Building JQuery Slideshows in Drupal

This session covers Drupal 6 and 7.

For site builders and themers, there are many options for building interactive JQuery slideshows in Drupal. I have found through experience that learning how to implement a custom module like DD Block is just as hard as doing it the old fashioned way. And doing it the old fashioned way will teach you a ton about how to apply customs themes in views.

In this session, we'll build a JQuery slideshow using Views, views templates, and blocks. Then we'll apply variations to to the basic widget that will make you a themer rockstar. Some examples of the JQuery slideshow technique we'll examine:

How to add javascript to your theme the right way
How to manipulate views with views templates

And we;ll do this with NO modules, and very simple theme coding.

This is a beginner session aimed at folks who want to work on the theme layer.
